Reflection:
MLO 3.1
When taking the SPAN 308 course I learned about the history of Mexicans as a secondary culture through reading the textbook, Mexicanos: A History of Mexicans in the United States by Manuel G. Gonzales. This class required me to analyze the history of this culture by answering question prompts and writing short essays about certain topics. Through doing this I was able to learn about the Spanish culture and compare it to the Japanese culture.
MLO 3.2
When learning about the Aztlan culture and comparing it to the Japanese culture I learned that they also had a religion that is similar to the Japanese religion. For example, I learned about how the Aztlan culture is a polytheistic culture that believes in many different types of gods just like how the Japanese culture is. I also learned that the Japanese people have also suffered in the same way as the Mexican culture had when coming to the U.S. by having to find hard work for such little pay and then having to deal with discrimination at the same time.
