Japan 306: The Japanese Mind
Course Decription: This course teaches the thoughts and behaviors of the social cultural norms that Japnaese people follow in their daily lives when it comes to decision making, behaving in a heirarchical system, making friends, and having a influence on others.
MLO Covered: 2
Reflection Narrative:
In this course I attended many lectures that taught me the way how Japanese follow certain social rules when it comes to certian situations. For example when it comes to refusing a certain request or suggestion from someone it is common to never give a direct answer such as a yes or no answer by making up a reason or excuse to reject someone's request. When it comes to behaving in a heirarchical system I learned that when it comes to working with your superior and there is a situation that gone wrong you have to admit that it is your fault even if it was not your fault and agree with your boss that something was at your fault even if it wasn't and when it comes to work meeting you always have to agree with the decisions made and opinions of your boss even when you do not agree with it.
