Reflection:
MLO 2.1
MLO 2 is a concentration on the social rules and aspects of the Japanese culture along with learning the values and perspectives of the Japanese people. While taking the JAPN 306: The Japanese Mind course I learned how the Japanese society works as a collectivist group instead of as a individualist group where the work environment is more about the company becoming successful as a whole instead of one person being seen as successful that person is seen as making the company succeed as a whole and that person should not just only think about themselves but about everyone and see themselves as part of a whole group that affects the entire group. I had also learned the different types of communication styles that the Japanese use such as indirect communication styles.
MLO 2.2
The JAPN 305: Introduction to Japanese Culture and Civilization course had taught me some of the cultural practices that were done hundreds of years ago that is still done in today's time period that is important to know when having to attend some of these cultural practice events in Japan. For example, I learned about the tea ceremony, Temples and shrine practices, along with practices that are done during a funeral when someone passes away.
